BACKYARD (Prior to adding the new garage, and several other yard renovations)
Heppner, Oregon, is an ex-lumber town, with a substantial farming industry and extremely low crime rate. A traditional Western town, it is located near the Blue Mountains, approximately 60 miles south by southwest of Pendleton, Oregon, and about 80 miles southwest of the Tri-Cities (Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick, Washington). Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as well as pure, clean air and good drinking water, this area is a wonderful place for anyone who wants to get out of the city, a family who wants their children to go to school and grow up in a safe environment, or for anyone who wants to retire in a nice community. Heppner is looking to add new commerce and industry, and already is building up a telecommunications backbone, and would be a wonderful place to telecommute from, or to start up a telecommunications business. With approximately 1,200 residents, it has excellent internet potential (a small investment could land a fiber-optic line through town, the nearest line isn't too far away, or possibly cable modems) and would be a great place to live and work. It's also a safe community to retire to, with a low crime rate and a good, clean environment. Heppner also has local ISP's, so you don't have to worry about losing your internet connection. =)
Our 1,200 sq. ft house was originally constructed in 1893. It has survived two early 20th century floods (Safety measures, included a dam and reservoir has prevented floods quite successfully) with very little, if any, damage. Originally a two bedroom home, several additions have been made, including a wash/laundry room which can also double as a secondary kitchen or storage room, a medium sized living room and dining room, a larger bedroom located in the rear of the house, and one and a half bathrooms (one main bathroom with shower, and a smaller bathroom adjoining the new, larger bedroom). When my family moved in, we tested the electrical system twice and it passed the electrical safety code both times. We also had the house repainted to the light-blue with royal blue trim color that you see in the picture above. Also, we cleared out and re-insulated/vapor guarded the foundation, making it nice and cozy and preventing pipe-freeze up in the winter. We have also greatly improved the appearance of the yard, and very recently completed construction of a new pole garage and shed attachment. Heating for the home is provided by either propane, or by a more economical wood burning (with heat distribution fan) stove. In the summer, we have a central air system.
Our yard contains a number of fruit trees, including an Apricot tree, two Plum trees, several strawberry plants, and a carefully contained blackberry bush. Also, we have a lovely elm tree in the back, and a pretty maple in the front, and we recently planted an apple tree in the back. The yard is very well shaded, and an excellent place to have dinner in the summer.
The backyard is fairly good sized, and is adjacent to St. Patrick's Catholic Church (large Irish population here in Heppner), as well as being very close to the Presbyterian Church and Baptist Church here. The neighborhood is probably the safest in town, and is insured by a close proximity to the County Sheriff's department, and also has a neighborhood watch program in effect. All of our neighbors are very friendly and courteous. For recreation, there is a beautiful little golf course, the Morrow County Water Park (Outdoor pool and year round spa), the high school track, and tennis courts. Our house is just a few blocks from downtown Heppner (but then again, not much in our town isn't), and only 1 1/2 blocks from Willow Creek, our city park, and library. Our community also has a community garden, which is just two blocks away, right across from the Morrow County Water Park.
Our home is an excellent place for a mid-sized family, or as a wonderful place to retire. A quiet, friendly neighborhood as well as a safe, attractive home, this house is an excellent buy OR rental. We will accept either selling or renting the house, but we would greatly prefer to sell it, as my mother has lived here by herself (with us kids stopping by from time to time), and wants to live and work closer to the rest of her family up north in Northwestern Washington. We hate having to leave this place, it was a great place to live, work, and go to school for the past 4 1/2 years.

Not nearly as good a web page as most I have done, but free hosting sites really like to load up on the banners when I use frames.
